Hello, my name is Sue and I'm the Office Manager of Prairie Ridge of Galena. The residents, their loved ones and colleagues can find me at the front desk. Some of my responsibilities include coordinating resident transportation, managing housekeeping staff and schedules, and coordinating grocery delivery orders with Piggly Wiggly but also the opportunity to be an active listener to assist residents as needed.
My educational background consists of a bachelor’s degree in Education from Northern Illinois University with graduate work in Special Education. My experience in education was in Early Childhood as a Teacher/Director in a Parent Cooperative Preschool. Before my employment at Prairie Ridge, I was the Office Manager at the Galena Welcome Center in the Old Market House. My Husband Bob and I moved to Galena from Elmhurst, Illinois where we raised our family. We have two grown children and two granddaughters. In my spare time I enjoy cooking, baking, sewing, and reading.
My enjoyment in working at Prairie Ridge comes from the fact that my colleagues and residents help to create a family environment. Recently when on medical leave, I was overwhelmed by the support of residents and coworkers. Having been isolated by COVID I am looking forward to the time when Prairie Ridge is once again able to fully open our doors to visitors and guest in a less restrictive environment and to be able to reconnect with residents’ families.
